Terry L. Hoops

Terry L. Hoops, 71, of Deshler, Ohio passed away December 27th surrounded by his family. Terry was born on September 19th, 1952 in Napoleon, Ohio and resided in the area most of his life. He joined the Air Force directly out of high school in 1970. After his father passed away in 1972, he returned to Deshler to support his family farm and started dating Mary (Seedorf), the love of his life. They were married for 50 years this past October. Terry and Mary were blessed with three children Kathy (Aaron) Kolodziejczyk of Liberty Center, Andrew (Jennifer) Hoops of Wellington, Ohio and Laura (CJ) Parker of Deshler. His grandchildren were the light of his life, Landen, August, Taryn, Ralph, Eleonora, Brystol, Brielle, Briggs and Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents, August Hoops (Father), Eleonora Koppenhofer (Mother) and Eldon Koppenhofer (Stepfather). Terry leaves behind siblings; Patricia (Mike) Mohring, Bonnie Palamara, Michael (Lisa) Hoops, Julie (Marvin) MtCastle, and Jon (Dawn) Hoops; Stepsister, Lois Blausey, and many nieces and nephews. Terry was a Patrick Henry High school graduate, studied at NWSCC and attained his bachelor’s degree from Defiance College. He worked in the communications field in many different roles for nearly 35 years. Terry and Mary owned and operated Mary’s Place in Napoleon from 2003-2008. He was also a substitute bus driver for Patrick Henry and Napoleon Schools. Terry loved spending time in Florida with many of his closest friends. He loved riding his motorcycle and taking cross-country trips with Mary. Until the last days, his sense of humor and ability to make us all laugh brought memories we will never forget. Terry was a lifelong church member and a true example of a faithful Christian man. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler, Napoleon American Legion, American Legion Riders, and served as a Henry County Veteran Services Commissioner for several years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 31st, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler, Ohio. Interment will follow at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon American Legion. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon and on Sunday from 1-2p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
