Peggy H. Christman

Peggy H. Christman, 91, of Perrysburg, Ohio and formerly of Deshler, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg. She was born June 24, 1925 in Kannapolis, North Carolina to the late William Edward and Maude Ruth (Self) Huff. On September 18, 1945 she married Edward Christman in Charlotte, North Carolina and they shared over 66 years together before he preceded her in death on November 1, 2011. Peggy and her husband, Ed lived in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1945-1968 where she worked as a secretary at Reconstruction Finance. While in Charlotte, she loved living close to the coast, where the family spent many happy vacations. She enjoyed being with her sister and her family, neighbors and friends and was active in a local bridge club. In 1968, they moved to Deshler, Ohio, where her husband was an owner in Christman Bros. Builders and Lumber Company. She worked as a bookkeeper in the business and was a member of the Deshler United Methodist Church. In 2004, Peggy and Ed moved to Perrysburg, Ohio to be near their daughter, Nancy. She was a member of Word of Truth Church in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was a gentle and sweet woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She spent a lot of time in her flower gardens, and in her kitchen, cooking and baking. She liked to dance and even tried out line-dancing later in her life. She was a very avid reader and would often finish 2-3 books a week on her Kindle. Peggy always remained true to her faith as a committed Christian and was a very prayerful woman. Above all, she loved God and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always willing to help and serve her family in any way, from making complicated wedding dresses to washing a sink full of dishes. She is survived and cherished by her daughters, Joan (Paul) Strausbaugh, Clifton Forge, Virginia; Nancy (Dallas) Oberdick, Perrysburg; grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Fender; Joshua (Karly) Oberdick; great grandchildren, Nathan Fender; Micah Fender; Anna Joy Fender; Emma Oberdick; Amelia Oberdick; sister, Juanita Baisey, Charlotte, North Carolina; niece, Tina (Parker) Downing; great niece, Nicole Hammond; and great nephews, Matthew Downing and Brian Downing. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Jerry Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler and a luncheon will follow at the New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler.
