Arthur O. PanningJuly 4, 1926-October 24, 2010 Arthur O. Panning, 84, of Deshler, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born July 4, 1926 in Deshler to the late Fred & Anna (Schultze) Panning. Art served in the US Army during World War II and returned home and married his wife of 63 years, Mary Jane Haughawout on July 27, 1947. He was a truck driver for Eazor Express, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Teamster Local 710 for over 25 years; and with the former Koppenhofer Brothers Poultry and Dekalb Hybrids, Deshler. Art was also a farmer; member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and past member of church council; former Bartlow Township Trustee; and life member and past Commander of Deshler American Legion Post #316 and Amvets Post #1313, Napoleon, Ohio. He was an avid golfer and a friend to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jane; daughter, Debbie (Alan) Dishong, McComb, Ohio; sons, Marty (Connie) Panning, Deshler and Tom Panning, Custar; daughter-in-law, Linda Panning, Deshler; 7 grandchildren, Chris (Karen) Dishong; Mike (Sara) Dishong; Katie (Kirk) Spieth; Kayleen Panning; Phillip Panning; Scott (LuCretia) Panning; Kellie (Jon) Bricker; 7 great grandchildren, Sarah, Lauren, Grant, Elliana, Derrick, Dalton and Amanda and sister, Edna Homan, Napoleon. He was also preceded in death by a son; Paul "Lennie" Panning; infant son, Fred; sisters, Pauline Behrman; Ruth Panning and brothers, Fred, Alvin, Herbert, Walter and Martin Panning. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Pastor Christinia Seibel officiating. Graveside services with military honors accorded by Deshler American Legion Post #316 will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
