Lucia S. Delventhal

Lucia Delventhal peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 5, 1925 in Napoleon, Ohio to Albert and Lydia (Meyer) Gerken. Lucia married Robert “Bob” Cordes in 1945 and he passed away in 1952. She then married Walter Delventhal in 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church (Freedom Township). Lucia was an inspiration to her family and community. She was friendly to everyone she came into contact with through the years. Lucia was a second mom to many young people. She was an avid crafter, making quilts, crocheting blankets and sewing for her children and grandchildren. Lucia was on the Ladies Aide quilting crew and her stitches were made with love and care. She was a housewife and helped on the family farm. Lucia was a lifelong member of the Ridgeville American Legion Auxiliary and St. John Lutheran Church, she also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. She and Walter went to Germany several times to keep memories alive. Her advice and comments were beneficial to many; along with her positive, respectful personality. Lucia is survived by her children, Nancy Hoover; Jane (David) Crandall; Joyce (Dan) Wiechers; and Mary (Doug) Kossow; grandchildren, Nick (Kasia) Hoover; Kirk (Kasey) Hoover; Jill (Drew) Snoply; Rachel (Ross) Durham; Ryan (Audrey) Crandall; Matt (Erin) Crandall; Nathan (Danacia) Wiechers, Marcus (Alex) Wiechers; Eric (Faith) Wiechers; Tyler (Olivia) Kossow, and Logan Kossow; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Konner, Katelyn, Sydney, Elise, Madelyn, Eli, Olivia, Sam, Luke, Claire, Spencer, Simon, Calvin, Adam, Charlie, Nicholas, Jack, Gavin, MaKenna, Marshal, Koye and Elizabeth. Also surviving are her sister, Evelyn Rohrs, and in-laws, Ron (Judy) Cordes and Phyllis Hesterman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Cordes; second husband, Walter Delventhal; son, Rick Cordes; granddaughter, Stephanie Kossow and sister, Margaret Baden. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio. Visitation will continue on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church (Freedom Township). Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Memorial Fund.
