Janis Dachenhaus

Janis Louise (Rosebrook) Dachenhaus, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Trustwell Kingsbury Place in Defiance. She was born on August 18, 1939, to Ernest and Ida (Gruenhagen) Rosebrook. On May 5, 1962, Janis married Ronald Dachenhaus, and together they built a life on the family farm in Napoleon. Over the past year, Kingsbury Place became a special home to Janis, and her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers for their compassion and kindness. The family would also like to thank Elara Caring Hospice for their support. Janis began her career as a bookkeeper at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio. She later devoted many years as a dedicated stay-at-home mother, raising her family. As her children grew older, she returned to work at Hudson Feeds and later continued her bookkeeping career at TC Marketing, where she worked until her retirement in 2019. She was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon and previously attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon Township. Janis was actively involved in church life, singing in the choir, serving on committees, and participating in Bible study groups. She had a deep appreciation for music, especially enjoying the sounds of bells, harp, and even the occasional bongo. Janis found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She loved cooking, hosting gatherings, and creating a warm and welcoming home. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a deeply cherished place in her heart, filling her life with immeasurable love and pride. She eagerly awaited the arrival of each new great-grandbaby and treasured every moment she was able to hold them close. Her love reached beyond her immediate family to her nieces and nephews, each of whom she made feel deeply loved and included. She is survived by her children: Lisa Walker of Napoleon, Ann (Bob) Lamb of Defiance, Rodney (Melinda) Dachenhaus of Napoleon, and Ryan (Shannon) Dachenhaus of Napoleon; grandchildren: Garrick Walker, Lindsay (Terry) Martin, Andrea Walker, Nick (Lauren) Lamb, Jared (Jessica) Lamb, Jake (Nicolle) Lamb, Kenli (Lane) Good, Bryant (Brittany) Dachenhaus, Laci Dachenhaus (Clayton Brown), Rudi Dachenhaus, Brandon Bayer, Nate (Nicole) Bayer, Kristen Bayer, Benjamin Scofield, and Jacob Cooke; six great-grandchildren: Lainey, Trace, Rory, Parker, Avery, and Kasen; and four step-great-grandchildren: Daine, Bo, Julianna, and Nora. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ida; and her husband, Ronald; and siblings, Eldor, Melvin, Arnold, and Selma Rosebrook. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, with interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home in Napoleon, and again on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Trustwell Living – Kingsbury Place, or Elara Caring Hospice.
