Forrest L. Plotts

Forrest L. Plotts, 79, of McClure, Ohio, went to his heavenly home unexpectedly of natural causes on December 11, 2017. He was reunited with the love of his life Lois Plotts with whom he shared over 60 joy-filled years. He was born on May 17, 1938 to the late Murley and Ethel (Rogers) Plotts and grew up in Malinta, Ohio. On September 8, 1956, he married Lois J. Gasche. Forrest was a skilled craftsman, having spent most of his working life with Duerk Construction, in Defiance, Ohio. He enjoyed the challenge of repairing or constructing anything that was asked of him. It was well known that he could make anything from materials and scraps he had stashed at his homestead. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed many hunting trips, golfing with his family and “tinkering” in his barn. Forrest was an avid antique gun maker and collector. His skills and artistic talents were evidenced by intricate carvings he crafted on his many handmade muzzle loaders. He loved his family and supported his children in their many activities, including many years of advising 4-H and traveling to horse shows. He and Lois were faithful members of Country Chapel Christian Union Church in rural McClure. Forrest and Lois loved traveling having visited all 50 states and many other countries. Just three weeks ago, Forrest and all the kids and grandkids celebrated Thanksgiving in Kiawah Island, SC. Forrest’s children are Karlyn "Karrie" (Ron) Lange of Perrysburg, Kathy (Tony) Hoops of Perrysburg, and John (Rhonda) Plotts of Dearing, Georgia. Grandchildren are Katrina (James) Carter and great-grandchildren Macie and Lewis of Fort Mill SC, Kris Lange of Columbus OH, Mackenzie (Jeffrey) Pater and a soon-to-arrive great grandchild of Cincinnati, OH, Erik Hoops of Chicago IL, David Hoops of New York NY, Jenelle (Matt) Lawhorne and great-grandchildren Damian Cady, Saxon and Forrest Lawhorne of Cary NC, and Nick Plotts of Duluth GA. Forrest is also survived by a sister, Julie (Bruce) Bickle of Wauseon, OH and was preceded in death by siblings Herbert “Blair” Plotts and Jeanette Burlinson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11 AM at Country Chapel Christian Union Church, Q111 Twp. Rd. 6B, Napoleon, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow at Hockman Cemetery in McClure. Visitation will be held at Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure Ohio on Thursday, from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.
