David R. Marshall

David Ross Marshall, 78, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2015 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, Ohio. He was born May 6, 1936 in Buffalo, New York to the late Robert and Mary (McMahon) Marshall. David graduated in 1954 from Boys Vocational High School, Buffalo, New York. He then honorably served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as the manager of Shea's Buffalo Theater where he met Patricia Haffner. On September 9, 1961 he married Patricia at St. Aloysius Church, Cheektowaga, New York. David worked for Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps for over 42 years, retiring in 2000. Him and Patricia then moved to Deshler where he worked for over 10 years for the Henry County Transportation Network. He also volunteered at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio. David was a very out-going man with a great sense of humor. He will be remembered fondly for his fun-spirit and cheerful demeanor. Many of his stories and jokes will be cherished by his family and friends. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler where he was on parish council; a Eucharistic minister and usher. He was a past board member of the Henry County Senior Center and past president and member of the Deshler Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; four children, Robert (Marilyn) Marshall, Lockport, New York; Mary Pat (Ron West) Marshall, Lehigh Acres, Florida; David (Renee) Marshall, Olean, New York; Ann Marie (Nathan) Eads, Huntersville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Samantha (Jose) Lopez; Brittany (Jeff) Mierczewski; Steven Strahin; Corey (Eleah) Marshall; Adam Marshall; Matthew Marshall; Janet Marshall; Hannah Langford; great grandchildren, Jayliana; Tyler; Brantley; and two sisters, Dorothy Ellis, Depew, New York; and Margaret Szentgyorgyi, Williamsville, New York. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler with Fr. Art Niewiadomski officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Custar, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The family suggest memorials to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. www.rodenbergerfuneralhome.com
