David Lee Keesbery

David Lee Keesbery, 83, of Napoleon, Ohio, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 3, 1943, to the late Walter and Loretta (Bowers) Keesbery. On June 17, 1973, he married Karen Genter at St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, and spent a loving 53 years together. David was a loving and caring man who devoted himself to his family, friends, and community. He spent 42 years working at Johns Manville in Defiance, Ohio, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and the friendships he built over a lifetime. A faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church of Stryker, David joyfully served as the church’s “Candy Man” for 30 years, a small tradition that brought smiles to many. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war from 1964-1966 and remained committed to fellow veterans as a lifetime member of the Ridgeville American Legion Post 454 and VFW Post 8218. David treasured traveling out west with his wife, Karen, to visit family. Florida became their second home, where he found fellowship in a men’s Bible study at Woodland Lutheran Church in Monte Verde. Golf was one of his greatest joys, bringing him friendship, fun, and peace throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Timi Jo (Marty) Reynolds, David Wyatt (Cimberlee) Keesbery; grandchildren, Katie, Hunter, Amaya, Maci, and Marcus; and great-granddaughter, Henslee Rae. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Cathy McDonald, Sharon Roux and brother, Thomas Keesbery. Friends and family will be received at St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 3-7pm. A funeral service will be held for David on Tuesday, at St. John Lutheran Church, at 11am, with an hour of visitation prior to services. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where military honors will take place, accorded by Ridgeville Legion, Post 454.
