Daniel R. Light

Daniel R. Light, 77, of Napoleon passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born in McClure on March 21, 1941 to the late Clifford and Eileen (Caulkins) Light. He was a 1959 graduate of McClure high School and later obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bowling Green State University. On March 23, 1963 He married Betty Webb who survives him. Daniel joined the Army and served his country in Korea during the Vietnam era. Prior to his military service he worked at Campbell Soup Company for a year. After his service he worked at Champion Spark Plug in Toledo where he was a Retirement Benefits Specialist for 42 years. Daniel Also worked part time at Light’s Taxes and Accounting, his own accounting business, from 1979 until his death, helping people. Daniel was a faithful member of the Country Chapel Christian Union Church, where he also served as a Worship Leader and a Trustee and Treasurer for the Ohio Council of Christian Union. He was a member of the Gideon’s for 18 years serving as past president and treasurer. He was also very active within our local veteran community previously serving as a Commander, Finance Officer and 45 year member of the American Legion, Post 332, McClure. Daniel was also a Commissioner of the Henry County Veterans Services and served as treasurer and Finance Officer of the Ohio Association of Veterans Service Comissioners. He was a former member of the Amvets, Napoleon. He loved to play golf and loved to watch Cleveland sports, cheering on the Indians, Browns and Cavs. Daniel is survived by his wife, Betty; Daughter, Amy (Brian) Smith; Grandchildren, Madison and Devin Smith; and sister, Dorothy (Robert) Webb. Funeral Service for Daniel will be held at 11 AM on Friday June 1, 2018 at Country Chapel Christian Union Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 2-8 pm at Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial Contributions in Daniel’s name can be made to Gideon’s International, Country Chapel Christian Union Church or the McClure American Legion.
