Barbara J. Stough

Barbara J. Stough, 90, of Napoleon, Ohio died Wednesday evening, July 6, 2016 at The Meadows of Leipsic, Leipsic, Ohio. She was born December 25, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Samuel and Gladys (Lawton) Hedge. She married Dr. Wilson Stough and they were later divorced. Barbara was a Dayton Colonel White High School graduate, earned a Bachelor's of Nursing from Ohio State University and a Guidance and Counseling Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University. She had a wonderful career as a Registered Nurse, serving as an instructor and then the director of the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing. After retiring in 1988, she worked at the Fulton County Stress Center. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Napoleon where she was a founder of the Cherub Choir and served on various committees. She was the First Volunteer Coordinator and very active with Henry County Hospice, volunteered with the American Red Cross, Henry County Hospital Auxiliary and was a former member of the Henry County Board of Health. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered for her elegant, yet unassuming way with a dry sense of humor. She enjoyed being a very gracious host and entertainer in her home. She could be found watching OSU football games on Saturday and following the Detroit Tigers. She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Dennis) Verhoff, Continental, Ohio; Jeff (Vilma Woodcock) Stough, Weston, Ohio; Ellie (John) Cichocki, Napoleon; 6 Grandchildren, Ben (Lisa) Cordes; Nathan (Holly) Cordes; Bill Stough; Simon (Amanda) Stough; Harrison Stough; Alexandria Stough; 7 Great Grandchildren, Mason Cordes; Hannah Cordes; Riley Cordes; Reese Cordes; Reagan Cordes; Jase Stough; Jaxson Stough; and two sisters, Joan (Bill, deceased) Snyder, Ocala, Florida and Mary (Wally, deceased) Jacobs, Cocoa, Florida. She was preceded in death by a son, Eric Stough. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon with Rev. Chad Roper officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio and from 10-11 a.m. on Monday prior to the services at the church.
