    Shirley Ann Sickmiller

    October 23, 1936 - January 11, 2021

    Shirley Ann Sickmiller, 84, passed to her eternal rest on January 11, 2021 while a resident of Blue Creek Healthcare of Whitehouse where she had been a resident since 2004. Shirley was born in Monroe Twp in Henry County on October 23, 1936 to Lester and Leota (Rettig) Sickmiller. She was a 1954 graduate of Malinta-Grelton High School, received her teaching degree in elementary education from Defiance College. She began teaching first grade In Bettsville. She then taught first grade at the Thomas Edison School in Willoughby until 1985. Shirley is survived by her twin sister, Sharon Cahill of Clyde, Clara Eitzman of Edgerton, Arnold (Debbie) Sickmiller of Custar, Martha Crocker of Fremont, and Eldon (Becky) Sickmiller of Malinta, as well as various nephews and nieces, both great and grand. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Edwin, and Jim; a sister, Lois Marie; brothers in-law, Herb Cahill and Dale Eitzman. She spent a great deal of time reading the Bible and learning about the Lord and was a good Christian. She loved her family. She also loved to travel and spent her summers learning about other countries, had traveled extensively to Mexico and Europe. She was a dedicated country music fan and attended many country music concerts. She became friends with many of the entertainers, was invited to spend time with them in their homes, especially Joe Taylor, Carl and Pearl Butler, and Teddy and Doyle Wilburn. Burial will be private. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Shirley’s honor. Condolences to the family may be sent in care of the funeral home or online at rodenbergergray.com. Arrangements entrusted to Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon.
