George J. Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George J. Johnson, 89, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Napoleon Lutheran Home- Genacross. George was born on March 27, 1932 in Cecil, Ohio to the late George and Kathryn (Burkmire) Johnson. On March 2, 1957 he married Sue Carol Hahn, whom survives and they were able to share 65 years together. George spent 4 years in the Navy serving as a telegrapher on 2 Naval Carriers. He was a member of the Napoleon American Legion. He loved his family and sports, especially Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs, as well as Notre Dame Football. He played Softball for Idle Hour, Little Brooklyn, and the Napoleon Legion. George and Sue took 8 or 9 bus trips and vacationed in Florida. He was a hard worker and had a kind heart. May he rest in peace… Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue; stepbrother, Neal Thomas; children, Vicky (Kris) Kaminska, Pheonix, Arizona, Julie Ann (Al) Murdock, Columbus, Ohio, George Tom (Kelly) Johnson, Stryker, Ohio, John F. Johnson (Rosanne Pedraza), Napoleon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; Kyle and Patrick Kaminska, Thomas, Troy and Tyson Murdock, Christal Swany, Anthony and Nick Johnson, McKenna Hopkins, and Zane Johnson; and 14 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Nash Thomas and sister, Flo Rolfe; and his favorite pets, Luis and Harley. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18th from 3-6 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts.
