Edwin H. Delventhal

Edwin H. Delventhal, 85, of Napoleon, Ohio died Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at the Henry County Hospital. He was born April 6, 1932 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late William and Auguste (Plate) Delventhal. On July 11, 1953, he married Jean (Bostelman) Delventhal at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adams Ridge, Defiance, Ohio. Ed was a 1950 graduate of Ridgeville High school. He was a Staff Sergeant in U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an Engineering Technician for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 26 years as a surveyor and road inspector. He also was the Maintenance director for the Napoleon Lutheran Home for 9 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon and served as congregation Chairman, Elder, Financial secretary, and sang in the adult choir. He was a member and past president of the Napoleon Lions Club and former little league baseball coach for the Tigers. He was also a Life member and past Commander for the Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post #300 of Napoleon and proudly served on the Color Guard. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed golf, woodworking, and gardening. He is survived by Jean his wife of over 64 years; children, Mike (Marianne) Delventhal, Charlotte, North Carolina; Tom (Alice) Delventhal, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and Kris (Bret) Speiser, Napoleon, Ohio; grandchildren, Nathan (Sadie) Speiser, Granville, Ohio; Bethany (Rob) Moden, Findlay, Ohio; Michelle Speiser, Grandview Heights, Ohio; Henry Delventhal, Seattle, Washington; Derry Delventhal, Syracuse, New York; Sarah Delventhal, Charlotte, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Reece, William, Jude, and Faith Moden; Sullivan Speiser; close neighbor and friend, Judy Swerline; and special 4-legged friend, Holly. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Wilfred "Bill" (Mary) Delventhal. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon with a meal to follow immediately. A graveside service will be held the same day at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Hill cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
