Vartan Eghigian

Vartan "Vic" Eghigian, who was a loving and loyal son, brother, husband, father and friend passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the age of 82. He was born and raised in Utica, NY, the son of Armenian immigrants, Donig and Sara Eghigian. After Donig passed in 1945, Vic assumed a leadership role for his mother and his brother, Paul until their passing in 1973 and 1993 respectively. Vic earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He retired as VP of Quality, Northrop Grumman after over 40 years of dedicated contribution. He was a man who acted with integrity and courage throughout his career. Vic married Eleanor Madden in November 1960 in New Hartford, NY and had a family of six children. After Eleanor passed in January 1976, Vic kept the family together always putting their best interests ahead of his own. He is survived by all of his children (and their spouses/partners) - Jeanne Eghigian of Ada, OK, Sharon (Dana Kivel) Eghigian of Sacramento, CA, Eileen (Jeff) Zeebuyth of Napoleon, Joanne (Brad) Farthing of Winter Haven, FL, Donna (Michael) Canarelli of Utica, NY and Robert Eghigian of New Hartford, NY; and 6 grandchildren who will always remember their grandpa's unwavering love and generosity plus his fantastic popcorn! Vic came to Napoleon to live with his daughter, Eileen, son-in-law, Jeff and granddaughter, Lena in June 2011. On behalf of Vic, the family would like to extend sincere thanks to all who have brightened his days, provided him care and/or otherwise supported helping him feel proud to call Ohio his other home.Vic was respected by all who knew him and adored by his family and friends. He will be remembered as an engaging, intelligent and courteous man who always extended a smile and appreciated the ones he received in return. He was a man who knew how to "be".Visitation will be held from 3 – 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 17th at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon with a brief memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY.The family suggests memorials be made to Henry County Senior Center.
