Sarah Rowland

Sarah J. Rowland, 82, of McClure, Ohio died peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born on March 23, 1932 in Putnam County to the late Chester and Nancy (Drew) Fisher. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her foster parents, the late Jay and Norma (Rike) Rader. She graduated from Deshler High School in 1951. On June 22, 1952 she married Robert S. Rowland who survives in McClure. Sarah worked for 21 years at Tem-Cole Radish. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church McClure where she served on the church council, a Sunday school and week day church school teacher, a member of the St. Paul's WELCA and Roberts McMillen American Legion Auxiliary. She formerly was a Sky Bank Board Member and a member of the Damascus Twp. Bethel Grange. She loved attending church and it's activities, playing cards, and cooking for her family and spending as much time as possible with her grand and great grandchildren. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Bob, and children, James L. (Berlinda) Rowland, John S. (Tresa) Rowland, Nancy (Terry) Green, Anthony L.(Roberta) Rowland,all of McClure and Dennis C. Rowland of Napoleon , grandchildren; Jeffery B. (Dawn Rippee) Rowland, Cassandra L (Todd) Bishop, Carla J. (Jr.) Eagleson, Joshua M. Rowland, Tyler J. (Sara) Rowland, Sonia L. (Mark) Schlagel, Tiffanie N. (Steve Creager) Rowland, Angela M. Green, Jacob L. Rowland, Jared P. Rowland, Diana L. Green (Will Swinghammer), Matthew N. (Nichole) Rowland, great grandchildren; Alexa Jo Diemer, Grace Rowland, Justin Rowland, Gavin Eagleson, Emma Jo Rowland, Jaden Bishop, Jack Rowland Janelle Rowland, Emery and Elyse Schlagel, Riley Jane Rowland, Raven Rowland, Roselyn Rowland; 1 sister, Edith LaRue of Cridersville, and brother-in-law, J. Loren Niday of Archbold; 4 foster sisters; Karol Rader (Pat Holt), Degraff, Susan (Dan) Phenicie, Tipton, IN, Nadine (Orville) Tussing, DeGraff, and Sandy Cordes of Deshler; foster brother, Randy (Annette) Rader. She was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Wagner, Jennie Williams, Ruth Niday and an infant brother. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 155 Depot St. McClure, Ohio with Pastor Mark English. Interment will follow at Hockman Cemetery in McClure. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, 310 Frank St., McClure and on Tuesday 1 hour prior to services at the church.
