Ronald A. Hughes

Ronald Alan Hughes, 66, of McComb, Ohio and formerly of Deshler, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 20, 1949 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Harry and Dorothy Mae (Ramey) Hughes. On December 8, 1968 he married Nancy Rutter at the Deshler United Methodist Church. Ron was a 1968 graduate of Deshler High School and honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968-1972. Ron retired after working for over 32 years at Ball Metal, Findlay, Ohio and previously owned his father's business, Hughes Body Shop in Deshler. He was a member of The Marine Corps League - Hancock County; Sycamore Lodge #520 F. & A.M., Deshler; McComb American Legion Post and formerly the Deshler American Legion Post #316; the former Jaycees of Deshler and a member of the former Deshler United Methodist Church. Ron was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps; a loving husband and father. However, his role as "Grandpa" provided him with cherished memories and happiness. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Janie (Jimmy) Boykin, Powell, Ohio; son, Rob (Claire) Hughes, Findlay, Ohio; grandchildren, Sabrina; Junior; Ashley; Chloe; sisters, Betty Prater, Akron, Ohio; Cathy (Rick) Sanchez, Findlay; Cheryl Ulrich, Findlay; Toni (Ralph) Bennett, Findlay; brother, Willis (Gladys) Hughes, Dublin, Ohio; brother-in-law, Jack Bayes, Ontario, Ohio and sister-in-law, Patricia Rutter, Maumee, Ohio. He was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Lawrence and Patsy Bayes; three brothers, Robert Darrell Hughes; A.J. Hughes and James Hughes. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Pastor Rich Rakay officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler. Following the burial, a fellowship luncheon will follow at the Deshler American Legion Post #316. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
