Robert F. Long Jr.

Robert "Bob" F. Long, Jr., 81, of McClure, Ohio passed away at UTMC in Toledo, on June 22, 2018. He was born June 23, 1936 in Harrison Twp., Henry County to the late Robert F. Long, Sr. and Georgia (Kirian) Long. He graduated from McClure High School in 1954. On January 6, 1957, he married Joanne Wolfe at the United Brethern Church in McClure, she preceded him in death in August of 1999. On June 22, 2001, he married Barbara (Reynolds) Heiman at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in McClure, Ohio. Bob worked at Campbell Soup Company and General Motors Powertrain in Defiance, Ohio. He retired from GM in 1992. Bob was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, McClure, where he served on church council and various committees. He assisted with Boy Scouts for many years while his sons were growing up. He enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of McClure, children; Dennis (Cindy) Long of Galion, Ohio, Duane (Holly) Long of Dayton, Ohio, David (Jane) Long of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, step-children; Beth (Dennis) Cousino, of McClure, Ohio, Mark (Karen) Unverferth of Wauseon, Ohio and Kevin (Jacquie) Unverferth of McClure, Ohio, 2 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 2 step-granddaughters, 3 step-grandsons, 3 great-grandsons and 1 step great-granddaughter and 1 step great grandson, siblings, Shirley (Lannie) Wright of Bryan, Ohio, Marjorie (David) Miller, Joan (Donald) Opdycke all of Alvordton, Ohio, Darrel (Sandy) Long of Edon, Ohio, Geri (Ronald) Houser of Pioneer, Ohio, and Peggy (Jim) Baltosser of West Unity, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Long and his first wife, Joanne. Memorial services will he held on July 7,2018 at 1:00 P.M.at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in McClure, Ohio. A time of gathering and remembering will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in McClure, Ohio from 10 to 1pm prior to the memorial service. Memorial donations may be given in Bob's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, McClure Ball Boosters, or to a charity of the donor's choice. A private graveside service will be held at Hockman Cemetery.
