Helen M. PowellFebruary 17, 1935-December 23, 2010 Helen Marie Powell, 75, of Deshler, Ohio died Thursday night, December 23, 2010 surrounded by her children at The Heritage Health Care Campus, Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born February 17, 1935 in Custar, Ohio to the late Aloysius and Gertrude (Durliat) Junk. On April 14, 1956 she married Kenneth "Bud" Powell at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1991. Helen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler and a charter member of the Bavarian Club, Deshler. She was an avid bowler at Deshler Lanes for many years in the Ladies League and Mixed Double Leagues. Helen enjoyed polka dances and casino trips, but her greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and constant companion on the family farm. She is survived by children, Steve (Dona) Powell, Bowling Green; Cathy Powell, Bowling Green; Doug (Barb) Powell, Deshler; Dan Powell, Bowling Green; Lt Col Jeff Powell, USAF (Monica), South Riding,Virginia; and John Powell, Deshler; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Bryce, Matt, Ryan, Kendra, Kenneth and Nicholas; and sister, Agnes (Bob) Mull, Berkey, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Joe and Harold Junk; and "son-in-law", Michael Finkenbiner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. David Tscherne officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler and a luncheon will follow in the St. Louis Catholic School. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler where a Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the church. The family suggests memorials to Honor Flight of NW Ohio; Deshler Fire Department, Milton Township Fire Department or Washington Township Fire Department.
