Nancy A. Haldy

Nancy A. Haldy, 67, of Napoleon passed away peacefully on October 9, 2014, at Mercy Saint Vincent Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 23, 1946 to the late Lyle W. and Marcella (Fruth) Brink. On March 8, 1969, she married Michael Haldy at St. John's United Church of Christ in Holgate where they still attend. Nancy was a graduate of Napoleon High School and Bowling Green State University with a Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision. She was a retired caring elementary school teacher for 35 years. She spent 34 of 35 those years educating the Napoleon community students . Every child was special and important to her and touched countless lives. She was a member of the Henry County Retired Teachers Association, Napoleon Scholastic Boosters, Napoleon Athletic Boosters, Child's Conservation League, Henry County Historical Society, Addison Women's Club and a member of an extremely close-knit high school group of friends known as "The Gang" and graduate school friends known as the "SBC". Nancy loved spending time with family, especially her three grandchildren. She loved spending time with her friends, her time at Devil's Lake, line dancing, reading and shopping. She was a warm, kind, loving, selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her loving husband Michael of Napoleon; daughters Lisa Haldy, Napoleon; Lauri (Mark) Powaski, Mentor; grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Summer; sister, Anita (Greg) Surfus, Ft. Wayne, In. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate, with Pastor Daniel Sather officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ Building Fund, Henry County Humane Society, Henry County Historical Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
