Betty J. (Michaelis) Middleton, 73, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of Napoleon, Ohio died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hilliard, Ohio. She was born September 25, 1938, in Liberty Center, Ohio to the late Bernhard W. and Edna (Oberhaus) Michaelis. On June 6, 1959, she married James Daniel Middleton at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1987. Betty was a clerk typist for the US Navy Department, office staff member at the City of Napoleon and worked at the Campbell Soup Co. in Napoleon, Ohio. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon and attended Resurrection Lutheran Church, Hilliard. She was a lifemember of Ohio Genealogical Society. While at Napoleon School System she was active in the Future Homemakers of a America (FHA) and member of Sharon Rainbows 4-H Club. She is survived by sons, Mark (Jeanne) Middleton and Daniel Scott (Ruth) Middleton; and daughter Lori Middleton (Scott Burch), all of Hilliard, grandchildren; Melanie (Max) Watkins, Jennifer Middleton, Jessica Middleton, Michelle Middleton, James Middleton, Mark (Caroline) Middleton, Jr., and Janelle Middleton; great grandson, Andrew Watkins; great granddaughter, Jade Watkins; brothers, Bernhard(Judy) Michaelis and Marvin (Nancy) Michaelis, both of Napoleon; and a sister, Diann (George) Johnson of Heywards Heath, England, and sister-in-law, Rozella (Eldor) Gruenhagen of Napoleon. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Michaelis; and sister-in-laws, Barbara & Nancy Michaelis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon with Pastor James Castello officiating. Interment will follow at Hoy Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Thursday from 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church.
