Manuel "Manny" Martinez

Manuel “Manny” Martinez, 90, of Napoleon, Ohio died peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born August 31, 1932 in Tallulah, Louisiana to the late Clifton and Amelia (Villarreal) Martinez. On November 29, 1953 he married Rosa Castilla at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon and she preceded in him in death on March 18, 2017. Manny was a 1953 graduate of Napoleon High School. He worked at Z&R Cleaners in Napoleon, Ohio before starting One Hour Martinezing franchise in Napoleon, which he owned and operated for many years. He also worked at Dinner Bell and Sauder Manufacturing. After retirement, he assisted in transportation at the Henry County Senior Center. Manny was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers, Toledo Mud Hens, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed fishing, vacation time with his family, and spending his winters in Plant City, Florida. He was a loving husband, father, and great grandfather. He always thought the world of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved attending their activities. He is survived by his children, Gloria (Brian) Isenbletter, Sylvia Lecklider, Roxanne (Tracy) Elson, Robert Martinez, Mark Martinez, Anita (Eric) Miller, Rick (Linda) Martinez, Mary (Tony) Koprowski, Connie (Dan) Keeran, and Lisa Martinez; 27 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; brothers, Clifton Martinez, Jr. and Daniel (Janet) Martinez, and sister-in-law, Hazel Martinez He was also preceded in death by a son, Manuel Martinez, Jr.; two infant daughters; son-in-law, Austin “Spike” Lecklider; daughters-in-law, Patti and Terri Martinez, great grandson, Colin Wiler; and siblings, John Martinez, Lucille “Lucy” Simms, Amelia “Millie” Tamalunas, Armenia “Alice” Staton, and Josefina “Josie” Roehrig. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19th at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, where a Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Catholic Church or CHP Hospice.
