Lawrence Schuette

Lawrence E. (Larry) Schuette, 89, of Napoleon, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at St. Vincent Heart and Vascular Center, Toledo. He was born October 26, 1925 in Napoleon Twp. to the late Herman and Frieda (Panning) Schuette. He graduated from Florida High School in 1943. On April 29, 1951 he married his loving wife Marilyn (Dietsch) Schuette and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Larry was Vice President of Midwest Plant Food in Napoleon for 15 years and owned and operated Augustine & Hoeffel in Napoleon for 15 years. He was the second hired employee of the first Napoleon Walmart where he ended his working career after many years of retail sales. He was a dedicated lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp., where he served as Council President and Sunday school teacher. He was President of the Northwest Ohio Luther League Association, Napoleon Twp. trustee, member of the U.S. Army - 103rd infantry, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for "Heroism in Action", member of Napoleon American Legion, and member of the Honest Farmer Coffee Club, at the Henry County Senior Center. He is survived by daughter, Lynda (Mark) Cramer of Ridgeville Corners, Peggy (Dan) Good, Sandra (Dennis) Kurtz, and Randall (Cheri) Schuette, all of Napoleon, grandchildren, Barry (Jeannie) VonDeylen, Kyle (Nicole) VonDeylen, Craig (Lori) Good, Joe (Trisha) Good, Kevin (Kelli) Good, Beth (Chris) Speiser, Andrew (Courtney) Kurtz, Alysia Schuette, Tyler Schuette, and 19 great grandchildren, sisters, Edna Coe of Ft. Wayne, IN and Laura (Richard) Meyer of Willoughby, OH, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Schuette of Holgate. He was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, a grandson, Robin VonDeylen, son-in-law, Robert VonDeylen, and brothers, Edwin, Henry, Fred, and Paul Schuette. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp. Interment will follow at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
