Knepley Lucille

Lucille Anna Ida (Lapp) Knepley, 88, formerly of Napoleon, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Delmar Gardens of Smyrna, GA. She was born on April 20, 1923 in Chicago, IL to the late Harry and Florence (Pomplun) Lapp. On December 26, 1944 she married Gerald W. Knepley who preceded her in death in 2009. In 2010 she relocated to Georgia to be closer to her daughter. Lucille graduated from Hirsch High School in 1941 and became an executive secretary for Goodman Manufacturing in Chicago. After marrying and moving to Ohio, Lucille was a homemaker and also worked for the City of Napoleon billing department until retiring in 1985. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon she was active in the congregation’s Mission Society and Ladies Guild and served as an officer in both. In retirement, Lucille enjoyed volunteering at the Lutheran and Northcrest Nursing Homes as well as tutoring students at St. Paul’s school.Apart from her family, Lucille’s passions were cooking, baking and entertaining at the holidays. She was an avid reader, gardener, seamstress, and enjoyed working cross-word puzzles. Family and friends took pleasure in her prolific letter-writing and her perpetual smile. Lucille is survived by her children Gregg (Lauren Jean) of Farmington Hills, MI; Cheryl (Charles) Malone of Marietta, GA; Mark (Candyce) of Downingtown, PA; and Joyce (George) Cordon of Las Vegas, NV. She relished her role as grandmother to ten and great-grandmother to five. Lucille is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jean (Ralph) Knepley of West Palm Beach, FL and Elizabeth (Charles) Lapp of Orland Park, IL. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Irving. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock Township.Visitation is from 7:00-9:00 pm on Sunday at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
