Jonathon Tassler

Jonathon A. Tassler, 45, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born in Napoleon, OH on April 7, 1978, Jon was the son of Thomas and the late Judith Tassler and father to Ella and Ava Tassler. Nothing was more important to Jon than his girls. He embraced being a “Girl Dad” and tried not to miss a sporting event when the girls were playing or cheering. When the girls were young, Jon’s specialty was entertaining them by breaking into a random song, a little river dance, or a wild facial expression. He was so proud of the young women they are becoming and strived to show them his love every day. Jon’s sense of humor was one of his many great qualities. Between his quick-wit and clowning around, you could always count on a smile or laughter to come your way. He and his identical twin brother, Jason, regularly tried to outdo each other in their ridiculous antics. Jon was also a great cook and could whip up a fantastic dish with just a few ingredients. If you were lucky enough to judge a “Tassler Twin Cookoff,” you had a tough decision to make. A 1996 graduate of Napoleon High School, Jon was involved in both football and track where he qualified 3 times for the State Track Championship as part of a 4x800 relay. His outgoing personality (and not his vocal ability) landed him the lead role of Emile in the school musical, South Pacific, during his senior year. His rendition of “Some Enchanted Evening” had audiences eagerly awaiting the last word… Jon was an avid sports fan who followed the Napoleon High School Wildcats (especially the Lady Cats), Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and the Chicago Bears. Although he could have probably been a bit more successful at it, he also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He worked in the roofing business (Rausch/Richland Roofing) for over twenty years and at Campbell’s Soup Company where he was recently awarded a cooker coordinator bid in which he excelled. He is survived by his daughters Ella and Ava Tassler (Napoleon); father, Tom (Napoleon); identical twin brother, Jason (Fort Myers, FL), sisters Tami Tassler (Fort Myers, FL) and Taya (Keith) Muncy (Charlotte, NC) and nephews Owen and Drew Muncy. He was preceded in death by his mom, Judy, and what a reunion they must have had. Friends and family will be received at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a 1-hour visitation prior to services. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are suggested to be made to either “Tassler Girls Education Fund” or St Paul Lutheran Church.
