John J. Miller

John J. Miller, 88, of rural Ridgeville Corners, Ohio died Sunday June 17, 2018 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. He was born March 6, 1930 in Ridgeville Corners to Joe C. and Addie (Meyer) Miller. On August 1, 1954 he married Virginia Ann (Behnfeldt) Miller who preceded him in death on December 19, 2009. John was the salutatorian of Ridgeville High School in 1948. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and was an electrical accounting machine repair man. John was first and foremost a dairy farmer. He also taught farm business and planning at Four County Career Center for many years. He earned his Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University in 1983. He was inducted in to the Henry County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2005. He was an officer of the Northwest Ohio Holstein Association, the extension Advisory board, the 4H Advisory Board, and the Dairy Service Unit. He was also the director of Milk Inc. and Milk Marketing. John was a member of the Community Improvement Corporation of Henry County and a Veteran’s farm instructor. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners where he was a past recording secretary, Elder and Sunday School teacher. John is survived by his sons, Scott (Sharilyn) Miller, Kevin (Toni) Miller, both of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, Kurt (Terri) Miller of Marengo, Ohio, and Kent (Pam) Miller of Napoleon, Ohio; grandchildren, Shawn (Josh) Amer, Sheena Miller (Ben Frey) and Shonda Miller, Rachel (Drew) Spears, Eric Miller, Kylene (Michael) Casey, Amie (Mike) Wilson, Adam Miller, Allison Miller and Alec Miller; and great grandchildren, Audrey, Ben, Titus, Addison, and Wesley. Along with his parents and loving wife he was preceded in death by his siblings; Betty Miller, Mavis Armbruster, Janet Schudel, Mary Westrick and Dolard Miller. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. Interment will follow at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by Ridgeville American Legion. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
