John T. Glick

John T. Glick, 74, of Napoleon, Ohio departed this life with dignity in the warm presence of his family on December 1, 2022. He was born in Defiance County, OH on October 11, 1948, to Ervin and Coleen (Endsley) Glick. John was born premature and had to exhibit strength from the very beginning of his life. His strength for life, family and community continued until his journey was completed. He entered into the Kingdom of Grace through the Rite of Holy Baptism on October 26, 1948 and renewed his baptismal promise on the day of his Confirmation on April 15, 1962 before the altar of St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, OH. On October 7, 1972, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, OH John established his family through marriage to Vicki R. (Daman) Glick. John & Vicki celebrated 50 years of devotion to one another before his passing. John is survived by his children, Mark (Jamie) Glick, Nathan (Leigh) Glick and Luke (Erin Stephey) Glick; grandchildren, Charlee (Jacob) Briggs; Macee, Emma and Devin Glick; and Alex, Abbie, Alyssa Stephey; brother, Rev. Dennis (Sally) Glick, and sister, Linda (Greg) Brandt. He is also survived by the many sons and daughters of Napoleon, OH that enjoyed the protection and hospitality of the John & Vicki Glick home. John was preceded in death by his parents. John represented the holy virtues his entire life but was exceptionally strengthened with Generosity and Diligence. John retired after 42 years as a metallurgist from GM Powertrain in Defiance, OH. He served as a youth coach for soccer and baseball. John was a key supporter of Napoleon athletics and aided in the construction of Charles Buckenmeyer stadium and Morley Field. He enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing, golf, coin club and home remodeling projects. Time spent with his family and grandchildren will be remembered for laughter and loud conversations. John was a kind, loving, humble and generous man who will be missed dearly. His legacy for strength in family and community will be felt for generations to come. Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM with an hour of visitation prior to services.
