Jetty Clapp

Our loving mother and grandmother, Joretta (Jetty) Diane Clapp, 82 of Defiance, Ohio passed away peacefully at Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center, Angola, Indiana on February 19, 2024 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 18, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Stanley and Mabel (Bower) Fletcher. Jetty married Clement Clapp on June 10, 1960 in Monroe, Michigan and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2000 after 39 years of marriage. Jetty is survived by her two loving daughters: Stacie (Fred) Enriquez of Savannah, Georgia and Stephanie (Toby) Nagel of Angola, Indiana; grandchildren: Nicholas Schroeder of Savannah, Georgia and Riley Nagel of Columbus, Ohio; half-siblings: James (Carla) Fletcher, McClure, Ohio, Coleen (Fred) Bobel, Bowling Green, Ohio and, Perry (Kim) Fletcher of Bowling Green, Ohio and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Jetty was also preceded in death by brothers: Thomas Fletcher, Theodore Fletcher, Gerald Fletcher, her stepfather David Franklin Milliron, and her special friend, Ralph “Hoot” DeWitt. Jetty was a talented hairstylist, and her career spanned many decades. She worked at various salons over the years and decided to build her own salon, Jetty’s Country Clippers, which she owned and operated for over twenty years; her daughter Stephanie joined her and worked with her mom for eighteen years. Jetty had many cherished clients and she dearly missed them after her retirement. Jetty loved having fun, listening to music and line-dancing. She loved her time along the Maumee River, boating and camping with all her loving River family. Jetty and Hoot also spent many winters in Florida at Shady Acres campground, Estero, Florida; they loved their friends at Shady Acres. Jetty’s family was the center of her life and there was nothing she enjoyed more than the time she spent with them. Jetty was a friendly and caring woman and will be missed by all who knew her. A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Hockman Cemetery, McClure, Ohio.
