Jayne Westhoven

Jayne Westhoven, 65, of Napoleon, Ohio died Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born January 9, 1957 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Lester and Wilma (Meyer) Robbins. On June 25th, 1977 she married Douglas Westhoven at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Jayne was a 1975 graduate of Napoleon High School and attained an associate degree in dental hygiene from Owens Technical Community College. She was a dental hygienist for over 40 years at Burke and Burke Dental offices in Defiance. Jayne was an active member of St. Augustine parish, where she was involved in various ministries and organizations to support the church and school. Jayne loved to be outdoors, whether she was swimming, boating, or walking in the woods. She loved to travel and adventure, and she explored every new place with endless energy. She was just as happy to enjoy the simple pleasures of life–a cup of black coffee, “snack-o-clock,” a quiet night on the patio, spontaneous family gatherings in the kitchen. She also loved the home she built with Doug and was known for her decorating, her landscaping, and her unparalleled pie and cookie baking. People always remarked about Jayne’s warm smile, her tireless work ethic, her easygoing nature, her quiet confidence, and her thoughtful eye for detail. Above all, she loved her large family. She is survived by her husband, Doug; children, Ryan (Olivia) Westhoven, Katelyn Westhoven, Zachary (Elizabeth) Westhoven, and Hannah (Hunter) Gerken; grandchildren, Jackson, Claire, Harrison, Simon, and Lydia; siblings, Steve (Mary Jo) Robbins, Jack Robbins, Joann (Lynne Taylor) Riley; mother-in-law, Jean Westhoven; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, James Westhoven. The family would like to extend gratitude to the many friends and family members who served as caretakers for Jayne in recent years. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 28th, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Mass will also be live streamed via St. Augustine Church's Facebook page. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-7 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio, with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be donated to St. Augustine Catholic Church or School or a charity of the donor’s choice.
