Dorothy J. Nutter

Dorothy Jean (Wagner) Nutter, 87, of Milton Center, Ohio died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, August 12, 2017. Mrs. Nutter was a lifelong member of the Custar United Methodist Church where she regularly accompanied songs of praise playing the piano and loyally provided baked goods for numerous church events. Over the years Dorothy worked for J.C. Penney, Custom Farm Services and Federal Land Bank. She served as a den mother for Cub Scouts and was a member of the Mental Progress Circle and the Deshler Camera Club. Born in Custar to Lee and Hilda (Baumberger) Wagner on September 5, 1929, Mrs. Nutter graduated from Milton Township High School in 1947. A farmer's daughter, she lived her whole life on one square mile of her beloved Milton Township, but also enjoyed traveling all over the country with her family. She married Howard R. Nutter on June 19, 1949, and their vows were faithfully honored for 55 years. Dorothy and Howard moved into their only home in Milton Center where she lived for 68 years. She is survived by her three grateful and loving children, James, Lebanon, Tennessee; Janet (Dan) Wilson, Rudolph, Ohio; Susan (Greg) Duncan, Durham, North Carolina; sisters, Betty Junkins, Rossford, Ohio; Thelma Nutter, Custar, Ohio, seven adoring grandchildren; Lee and David Nutter, Lebanon; Bret Woodbury, Cincinnati; Sara Wilson, Bowling Green; Dana (Tyler) Pahl, Rudolph; Matthew and Katie Duncan, Durham; and one great grandchild, Luke Woodbury. She will be remembered for her steadfast love of family and friends. Dot was a friend forever and kept in touch with acquaintances across the country with her e-mails, cards, letters and phone calls. Dorothy's funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with her nephew Rev. Dr. John Grove officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Township Cemetery, Custar. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
