Donna J. Peper

Donna J. Peper, 90, of Napoleon died peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Genacross Lutheran Home. She was born on November 21, 1927, in Swanton, Ohio to the late Jesse and Hilda (Berkebile) Bloom. She married Edmund G. "Jim" Peper, Jr., of Holgate on March 18, 1956, in Swanton. Donna was a graduate of Swanton High School and the Elkhart Business College, Indiana. Prior to her marriage and starting her family, she worked in medical dictation and the Pathology Department at University Hospital at The Ohio State University. After years of raising her children, she went on to work at United Way of Henry County as an administrative assistant. She was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, and was involved in a variety of activities there. Donna loved spending time with family and traveling, especially on summer trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She also liked spending time at Devils/Round Lakes in Michigan, a tradition she began as a child with her mother and siblings and carried on with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes and attended football games for decades with her husband, and even attended the famous 1950 Ohio State-Michigan game known as the Snow Bowl. For more than 40 years she walked daily with her close group of friends. She loved playing cards with her friends, as well as playing games with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ed; children, Melissa (Dan) Peper Firestone, Christian (Maureen) Peper, Emily (Kurt) Tempel, and her Belgian exchange-student son Luc (Susan) Dendievel; her grandchildren, Carson and Wyeth Firestone; Greg (Emily), Jenna, Victoria, and Theresa Peper; Quinn, Hannah, and Olivia Tempel; Derek, Bryan, Tyler and Kevin Dendeviel; her great grandchildren, Simme and Nio Dendievel; and her sister, Gwenyth L. Mosiniak. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah J. Peper, and her brother, Harold A. Bloom. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Internment will be private and held at a later date. Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, 2018, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church or to the United Way of Henry County, c/o Tom Mack.
