Donald G. Flory

Donald G. Flory, 84, of Napoleon, Ohio died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1931 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Irvin H. and Frances (Hammer) Flory. On December 27, 1958, he married Mary (Like) Flory at St. Augustine Catholic Church, who preceded him in death on July 8, 2010. Don was a 1949 graduate of Hamler High School and attended Bowling Green State University where he attained a Masters Degree in Education. He taught DECA and Business classes at Napoleon High School for over 27 years. He worked at Franz Nursery and became co-owner of Sand Ridge Nursery. He took great pleasure in keeping books and records for many organizations. He was treasurer for St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Knights of Columbus, and finance officer and treasurer for Bert G. Taylor American Legion, Napoleon since 1989; and was the official scorekeeper for NHS Boys basketball for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a dedicated member of Bert. G. Taylor American Legion, Napoleon and it's Color Guard. He was proud to be a part of the June 17th Honor Flight. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, where he was a reader and Eucharistic minister. He is survived by daughters, Teresa (David) Damman and Amy Flory, both of Napoleon, sons, Michael (Peg) Flory of Napoleon, Stephen Flory of Pearland, TX, and David Flory of Archbold, grandchildren, Krista (Joe) Howard, Sarah (Curtis) Wilson, Kayla, Jessica, and Lucas Damman, Elena, Joshua, and Matthew Flory; great grandchildren, Maxton and Graceyn Howard, Kenlee Coressel, and Lyla Wilson, and brother, Irvin “Buck” Flory of Bradenton, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veterans Posts. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon.
