Alicia G. Garcia

Alicia G. Garcia, 77, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. She was born on October 25, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Felix and Luz (Gutierrez) Gomez. Her father died in service during WWII just when she was an infant. She was raised by her mother Luz and her paternal family. As a young child, Alicia and her family would travel between Texas and Ohio. The family eventually settled in Napoleon, Ohio. She attended St. Augustine school and some years later she met her husband, Guadalupe Garcia at a dance. Together they had 4 children and were married for 17 years. Later, she moved to Florida for many years to be with her first grandkids. She eventually came back to Ohio to be with her mother, children, and younger grandchildren. Alicia was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and would pray the rosary daily. She was always happy to volunteer whenever she could during church events, such as the Fish Fry. She also enjoyed attending local festivals for the community, such as the Turtle Fest, Rib Fest, and Rally in the Alley. She was a social butterfly and liked the opportunities to connect with friends and others in the community while enjoying a good time. Her favorite hobby was gardening. She loved all kinds of music, especially Elvis. Her love of music would move her to spontaneously dance and sing at times. In her last few years, she was a resident of Northcrest Nursing home, where she made new friends with the residents and the nursing staff. Alicia adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loved by many and was truly one of a kind. She will be missed tremendously. Alicia is survived by her mother Luz Gomez, her children, Pedro "Pete" Garcia, Elvia Garcia-Medrano, Felix (Shahna) Garcia, and Cynthia Garcia; grandchildren, Virginia, Omar, Lupita, Felix Jr., and Mateo; and great granddaughter, Ava G. Medrano and her only husband Guadulupe J. Garcia. She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Gomez. Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church, on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment at the church cemetery will immediately follow.
