Adams E James

James E. Adams, 79, of Grelton, Ohio, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 in Napoleon, Ohio. He was born June 13, 1931 in McClure, Ohio to the late Arthur and Mabel (Pittman) Adams. On May 10, 1953, he married Arlene Riggs in Napoleon, Ohio and she survives. Jim was a lifelong farmer retiring in 2000 when his son Doug took over the operation. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Ohio Farmer's Union, and Four Corners Historical Society. He was also a lifetime member of Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters Club and a member of the local Antique Tractor Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served 12 years on the Tri-County Rural Electric Board, 8 of those years as president. He was a long-term member of the Grelton Cemetery Association, where he served as secretary-treasurer for over 30 years. Jim was also a member of Sharon United Methodist Church where he served as president of the board, pastor parish relations committee, numerous other committees, and always enjoyed singing in the choir. Jim loved his 7 grandchildren and going to their ball games, concerts, and all their other activities. He also adored his 2 great grandsons and was looking forward to the arrival of 2 more great-grandchildren soon. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronald and Gerald, who died in infancy. Also surviving are his brother, Robert Tucson; AZ, his children, Debra (Dennis) Damman, Napoleon; Douglas (Rox Ann) Adams, McClure; and Diana (Richard) Lange, Napoleon; grandchildren, Jason (Anna) Damman, Derek (Stephanie) Damman, and Jenna (Gregory) Kehnast; Karla (Justin) Sexton and Teena (Donald) Pinckney; Michael (Sunny) Lange and Krista Lange; great-grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Sexton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon United Methodist Church with Pastor Lindy Maurice-Saum and Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Grelton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and on Wednesday 1hr prior to the funeral at the church. The family suggests memorials to Sharon United Methodist Church, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
