Jack E. RomakerMarch 24, 1926-May 31, 2009 Jack Emerson Romaker, 83, of Tuscson, Arizona and formerly of Custar, Ohio died Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Tuscon, Arizona. He was born March 24, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Anthony P. and Mildred A. (Duesburg) Romaker. On April 16,1948 he married Kaylene L. Emans and she preceded him in death on October 4, 2000. Jack was a graduate of Milton Township High School and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for General Motors, Defiance, Ohio and retired in 1986. After he retired, he and his wife Kay, spent many years traveling around the country. He loved riding his Harley Davidson (Plumb Crazy) and taking long road trips alongside his son, daughters and son-in-laws. He loved camping, and backpacked the Grand Canyon when he was 75 years old. He was known as Great Hop Father in Arizona and Grandpa Arizona in Ohio. He was adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was liked and respected for his honesty and integrity by all who knew him. We will miss him with all of our hearts. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar; Knights of Columbus and the Nocross-Meyers American Legion Post #305, Custar for 62 yrs. Jack is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (Gerald) Knepper, Tucson; Theresa (John) Garner, Jerry City, Ohio; a son, Dale (Hiroko) Romaker, Tucson; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; two brothers, Gene Romaker, Bowling Green, Ohio and Donald Romaker, Wayne, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Romaker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. Jeff Nordhaus officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the mass at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to Casa de la Luz Hospice, 5830 North Fountains Avenue, Bldg 2, Tucson, Arizona 85704 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
