Jennifer E. Nagel

Jennifer E. Nagel, 36, of Defiance, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo. She was born on December 14, 1979 in Wauseon, Ohio to Chester (Kathi) Nagel and Luana (Keith) (Sonnenberg) Erford. Jennifer was a 1998 graduate of Tinora High School and then continued her education at Bowling Green State University. She received her bachelors degree in hearing impaired and intervention specialist and her masters degree in special education. She was a teacher formerly at Liberty Center, Archbold, and presently at Four County Career Center. She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church where she previously belonged to the Luther League and the church choir. In high school she enjoyed playing softball and later on was the softball coach for Archbold and Patrick Henry schools. She was also involved in 4-H, Vanguard in earlier years and was a wonderful sign interpreter for many events. She participated in many breast cancer mud runs and mud volleyball games. Jennifer's passion was singing which started in the high school choir and continued to All State choir, including multiple variety shows at Tinora High School and later became involved in the Fort Defiance Players and singing for many weddings. Jennifer is survived by her parents; special friend, Ray Varner of Stryker, Ohio; siblings, Andy (Sarah) Nagel of Defiance, Ohio, Haley (Benji) Fryman of Valparaiso, Indiana, Renee (Chris) Barton of Napoleon, Ohio, Craig Erford of Fairborn, Ohio, Chad (Andrea) Nagel of Alma, Kansas, Sarah (Luke) Durham of Okolona, Ohio, and Michelle (Jordan) Inbody of Findlay, Ohio; Nieces and nephews, Maggi and Kenzi Nagel, Lucy, Dayla, and Daisy Fryman, Monroe, Tatum and Bailey Barton, Grayson Nagel, Ryker Inbody; grandparents, Ralph Nagel of Defiance, Ohio, Dewey and Valetta Van Valkenburg of Jewell, Ohio. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Doris Nagel, Paul and Wilma Sonnenberg, and Reynold and Opal Erford. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio officiating Pastor Robbie Ketcham. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4 from 2 - 8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and one hour prior to the service at the church.
