David Beck

It has pleased the Lord over life and death to call the soul of David Beck to heavenly rest on Monday, December 4, 2023. David was born on December 29, 1950, in McKeesport, PA, to parents Joseph and Joan. He is survived by sons, Anthony and Christopher; daughter-in-law, Sarah; grandsons, Connor and Michael; sisters, Judy, Nancy Cracolice, Kathy Partridge; and brother, Robert. Funeral arrangements for David have been made with Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home in Napoleon, Ohio. Visitation will take place at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home on Monday, December 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. David's funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 12, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio at 10:00 AM with an hour of visitation at 9:00 AM until the time of service; the Rev. Peter Marcis will be officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church. David was an academic and Alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh and University of Toledo. He enjoyed a long and varied career serving in financial and administrative roles for Campbells Soup, Dinner Bell, The Defiance College, and finally as President of the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) until his retirement. Beyond his dedication to his work, David enjoyed extensive reading and was an armchair historian of the American Civil War. He was also an avid photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of National Monuments and historic sites. He was a devout fan of Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, Pirates, and Panthers. David also enjoyed traveling, walking, classic rock and technology. Most of all, he treasured time with his family and being "Baboo" to his grandsons. David is Baptized into the name of Jesus Christ and clung to His promises throughout his earthly life. He began life in the Catholic Church before converting to the Lutheran Church in 1983 and remained a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Napoleon where he served various roles as usher, treasurer, congregational chair, and elder until his death. Though we mourn his passing, the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus remain good for David. Dying in Christ, David lives now in the presence of his Savior, resting from his labors and awaiting the resurrection of the dead and a joyous reunion with us in Paradise. "Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him." -2 Timothy 2:11
