Bernard "Babby" Babcock

Bernard “Babby” Babcock, 83, of McClure, Ohio died peacefully at Genacross Lutheran Home in Napoleon on Monday, March 6th, 2023. Bernard was born October 21, 1939 in Delta, Ohio to the late Harmon and Lois (Woodring) Babcock. He graduated from McClure High School in 1957. It was on a work trip to Zellwood, Florida that he met Annette Turner working in a soda fountain. They married on April 19, 1958 in Woodbine, Georgia and they enjoyed 64 ½ years together. Bernard went to work for George Weasel Jr. after high school and was a farm manager for Tem-Cole, McClure, Ohio for 38 years. While working for Tem-Cole he obtained his private pilots’ license. He also worked for B & B Molded Plastics, Napoleon. He enjoyed being outdoors; golfing, working in the garden and fishing. When not outdoors, he enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. He was a member of the Napoleon Elks Lodge #929 since 2008. After his retirement in 1995, he and Annette enjoyed traveling the eastern US tracing their family trees. In the past year he took pleasure in teaching his son-in-law Nate how to play cribbage. He is survived by his wife, Annette; daughters, Regina (John) Moore of Easley, SC and Christi (Nate) Bolton of Waterville, OH; grandchildren, Lucas (Lindsey) Babcock, Megan (Courtnee) Morris, Jacob (Bethany) Babcock, Angela (John) Lamb, Paul (Becca) Dennis, Matthew Herder, Natalie Herder (Dean Beamont); great grandchildren, Jaxson, Dominic, Damien, Siren, Avery, Noa, Drayden, Oakley, and Asher; sister, Carole Brown; sister-in-law, Jane (Roger) Billette; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Carol) Turner; 3 nieces, 4 nephews and special neighbors Marvin and Jean Sonnenberg. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim, whose wife Shannon survives him; brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Sharon Babcock; and brother-in-law, Bob Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, McClure, Ohio. Interment will follow in Hockman Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Damascus Township Fire and Rescue.
